MORNING MUSUME



Morning Musume (モーニング娘。) adalah grup musik J-pop perempuan dariJepang yang sering berganti-ganti an.ggota. Grup ini juga dikenal sebagai "Momusu" (モー娘。). Mereka adalah grup utama dari Hello! Project karya Tsunku.
'Musume' berarti putri, jadi Morning Musume berarti 'Putri Pagi'

History

Nakazawa joined Morning Musume in 1997 as a part of the first generation and was Morning Musume's first leader. She graduated in April 2001 and was the first member to start a solo career in addition to being a member of Morning Musume.

She has also acted in doramas such as Beauty 7, Gokusen, and had the title role as the mother of a four year old in Homemaker. After graduating from Morning Musume., she became the host of Hello! Morning, a position she held until Yasuda Kei took over after her own graduation in 2003. Nakazawa frequently appeared as a guest and as a regular on news and skit segments in the show.

* She worked as an OL prior to joining Morning Musume at age 24.
* She is known as an older sister figure within Hello! Project but is also famous for her aggressive, Yankee-like personality as well.

History

Ishiguro Aya is a former first generation member of Morning Musume, and is currently a celebrity talent.

She graduated from both Morning Musume and Hello! Project on January 7, 2000 and married Shinya of the famous rock band LUNA SEA in May 2000 and became a mother for the first time on November 5th, 2000, with a baby girl. She gave birth to a second daughter in 2002, and a son in 2004.

Ishiguro has published a book about her transition from Morning Musume to motherhood in 2003 called "Musume Kara Mama e -Ishiguro Aya no LOVE2 Ko Sodate Revolution." She released a follow-up book in 2004 called "Ko Sodate Project!" 

Trivia

* She changed her name to "Yamada Aya" after she was married, and the character for "Aya" (彩) was later changed to two different characters (亜弥).
* Contrary to popular rumor, Aya was not pregnant when she left MM. She officially resigned in December of 1999 with her last public performance with the group in January of 2000. She was however pregnant when she married her boyfriend the former drummer of Luna Sea Yamada Shinya. Her daughter was born in November almost a full year after she announced that she was leaving the group.

History

Iida Kaori is a former leader of Morning Musume. She was one of the first five original members of the group and graduated on January 30, 2005. She served as the group's second leader after Nakazawa Yuko's graduation. She graduated from the group on January 30, 2005 to focus on her solo career. She was the last original Morning Musume member to leave the group. On July 6, 2007 Iida announced that she was pregnant and engaged to Kenji, formerly of the group 7 House. The two married the next day and their son was born on January 22, 2008. Unfortunately, he suffered from renal failure and died on July 27, 2008. Iida returned from her hiatus in January, 2009.

Trivia

* As a member of Morning Musume, Iida has the most singles under her belt with a grand total of 26 (counting "Ai no Tane"). Second up are Yaguchi Mari and Yoshizawa Hitomi, each with 25.
* Is an experienced acoustic guitar player.
* Her nickname "Johnson" comes from the hosts of Utaban constantly referring to her as such. The origin comes from the 1999.02.16 episode where Ishibashi Takaaki decided to associate each member with a baseball player (so he could remember them easier), and Iida supposedly resembled Davey Johnson. Iida's nickname is the only one that stuck.

Abe Natsumi is one of the five original members of Morning Musume. She often took the lead in songs, on occasion singing the entire lead vocal with the other girls acting as backup singers. In 2004, she graduated from the group to pursue a solo career. In 2003, Abe teamed up with Yosumi Keiko, a former member of Rokusenmon, as a so-called "mother and daughter" duo and released a single to prepare her for her solo efforts. To date she has released two albums, one mini album, and ten solo singles. In late 2004 she was temporarily suspended for plagiarism, but as of early 2005, she is once again recording and performing. Abe has participated in many Hello! Project shuffle units and subgroups, the latest being Morning Musume Tanjou 10nen Kinentai. On November 16, 2007, it was announced that Abe would be collaborating with ºC-ute member Yajima Maimi. They released the single 16sai no Koi Nante on January 16, 2008. It was the first Hello! Project single of 2008.

* Tsuji Nozomi calls her "Nachimi." Nakazawa Yuko and Yasuda Kei sometimes call her "Natsuan." Rinne was the first person to call her "Naccho".

Fukuda Asuka is one of the five original members. Along with Abe Natsumi, she was one of the group's main singers. She graduated from the group on April 18th, 1999. This makes her the Morning Musume member with the shortest tenure at only two years. She stated the reason she graduated was to focus on her studies, although she dropped out of high school not long after her graduation.

Yasuda Kei, along with Yaguchi Mari and Ichii Sayaka, was part of the second generation of Morning Musume. Morning Musume went on to produce another album and three more singles before Fukuda Asuka decided to graduate and Kei was given almost all of Asuka's lines in future performances of the earlier songs.

Kei and Sayaka sang a particularly catchy duet known as "Otome no Shinrigaku" (Girl's Psychology) in Morning Musume's album Second Morning and Tsunku decided to lump them together with 3rd generation member Goto Maki, creating the Morning Musume subgroup Petitmoni in 1999. After Sayaka graduated from Morning Musume and Petitmoni, Yoshizawa Hitomi was placed into the subgroup and Kei became leader.

Kei graduated in mid-2003, at the same time Morning Musume's 6th generation debuted, forming a brief 16nin lineup right before Kei left. During her graduation concert, Kei sang a new rock version of "Never Forget" and Tsunku presented her with her soloist copy of her last single with Morning Musume, "AS FOR ONE DAY." Yaguchi Mari became Morning Musume's sub-leader after Kei's graduation.

Because fellow Petitmoni member Goto Maki had also graduated, Petitmoni went though yet another new formation with Hitomi leading 5th generation's Ogawa Makoto, and Coconuts Musume's Ayaka Kimura, the two new members.

Kei collaborated with Nakazawa Yuko and other H!P artists on 2 Folk Songs albums. She has guest starred and emceed in Abe Natsumi's solo concerts, sang backup for Goto Maki's single "Daite Yo! Please Go On," and was host of Morning Musume's weekly TV show "Hello! Morning." Outside of H!P, she has worked in several dramas and musicals.

In late 2004 she returned to join the Hello! Project All Stars shuffle and in 2005 she was placed in the Puripuri Pink shuffle.

Kei is skilled in several musical instruments, including the saxophone and the piano. She has made several appearances on TV and in concert accompanying herself or others.

In August 2007, she acted with Kimura Ayaka in the Otona no Mugicha play Chigaimasu Sisters.

History

Yaguchi was a second gen member and become well- known for her 'Sexy Beam!' line in Koi no Dance Site. She was also known for her height (145 cm) and exuberant and irreverent personality. Yaguchi became subleader of Morning Musume in May 2003 after the graduation of Yasuda Kei, and she became the leader in January 2005 after the graduation of Iida Kaori. In April 2005, Yaguchi suddenly quit Morning Musume after it was reported by tabloid magazine FRIDAY that she was in a relationship with actor Oguri Shun. She said she had "betrayed" her position as an idol and that she "want[ed] to move on with [her] career as an adult." Yaguchi and Oguri have reportedly broken up since April 2006.After leaving Morning Musume it took a few years for her first solosingle to come out but in the mean time she repeatedly appeared on television and she even co-hosts tv shows of her own such as Yaguchi Hitori and Kanrui! Jikuu Times, she has starred in two dramas, and frequently guest stars on other variety shows. In October 2008, it was announced that Hello! Project would be mass-graduating all of the Elder Club division within H!P, which included Yaguchi. The graduation took place on March 31, 2009. On January 21, 2009, it was announced that Yaguchi would finally be releasing a new single. She partnered up with Airband, part of the Hexagon family, to release a promotional song for Quiz Hexagon in March 2009, tentatively titled Seishun Boku.

Ichii Sayaka was a member of Morning Musume. She joined the group in May 1998 with fellow second generation members Yaguchi Mari and Yasuda Kei. She graduated in May 2000 to continue her education.

In late 2001 she released a collaboration album with Nakazawa Yuko and the same year she rejoined the music business with CUBIC-CROSS, which was Ichii Sayaka (vocals), Taisei (keyboards) & Yoshizawa Naoki (guitar). Taisei was also the producer for the group and he used to play keyboards in Sharan Q. She retired from the music business at the end of 2003, married Yoshizawa Naoki, and had a child.

Hello! Project / Up-Front Agency

Goto Maki joined Morning Musume when she was just 13 years old and became almost an instant favorite, helping them reach number one with the song LOVE Machine. She soon established herself as a talented singer and dancer and took the lead on a large number of Morning Musume tracks.

In 2002 she graduated from Morning Musume to pursue a solo career and has since released four albums, as well as a number of singles. She was also in the Morning Musume ten year anniversary group, Morning Musume Tanjou 10nen Kinentai.

On October 28, 2007, her graduation from Hello! Project and Up-Front was suddenly announced and was to take place on the last day of her then current concert, G-Emotion II ~How to use SEXY~. The reasons for her departure were stated as resulting from being overworked, which was causing her health problems, as well as having conflicting ideas about her career.

Avex signs-in Goto

Late in 2007, after her sudden H!P graduation, rumors aroused the very next day stating that Avex's CEO, Max Matsuura, had shown interest in signing Goto in for Avex. During Goto's brother trial, she disappeared from the media-eye.

On March 25, 2008, Maki re-opened her blog during her stay in Los Angeles, where she studied and practiced different types of song and dance, including R&B, jazz and hip-hop. Her blog didn't include any reference to Up-Front agency (but was still on the same address), and it was assumed that her contract with Up-Front had expired on March 1st and was not renewed as expected. Her last blog entry was on April 22.

On June 19, 2008 (after many rumors had circulated), it was released to the press that Goto Maki had signed with the record label Rhythm Zone under avex.

Maki debuted with Avex when she participated in the company's shareholders' meeting on June 22nd, 2008, singing a cover of Whitney Houston's "Saving All My Love for You." She also participated in a-nation'08 (Osaka on August 24th and Tokyo on August 31st) alongside with Kumi Koda, Ai Otsuka, EXILE, Ami Suzuki, AAA, TVXQ, Namie Amuro, and Ayumi Hamasaki, among others. On a-nation, she performed the self-written song "Hear me", a song unreleased to the date, drawing media attention for the first time since her graduation.

SWEET BLACK Project

The SWEET BLACK Project is a cross-media collaboration between J-WAVE, Avex and Mixi. Goto Maki herself chose the logo and the name, which is meant to reflect the “positive and negative” side of the life of today’s women.

On January 5th, 2009, J-WAVE premiered “SWEET BLACK Girls”, a 15 minutes segment hosted by Goto Maki and Ryu as part of the popular radio show “PLATOn”. The show airs Mon-Fri and focuses on the life of women on their twenties. Reception was extremely good, as 30,000 messages were received during the first week only[1].

To complete the project, Mixi, the most used networking community in Japan, opened a special space for Sweet Black[2], and Avex launched a web-documentary on YouTube based on Goto’s daily routine as a singer[3]. Immediate success was acquainted, admittedly beyond expectations [4].

On January 21st, Goto released her first digital single with Avex: Fly away. The lyrics, penned by Maki herself, are based on Mambo, a story written by young author Hitomi Kanehara, who won the Akutagawa Prize for her 2003 novel "Hebi ni Piasu" ("Snakes and Earrings").

Barely a month later, on February 25st, Goto released her second digital single, titled Lady-Rise, also penned by herself. This time, Goto collaborated with Sakurazawa Erika, a Japanese manga author whose works are mostly published in josei magazines (comics targeted to a young women audience).

On March 7th, Maki modeled at Japan’s biggest fashion event, TOKYO GIRLS COLLECTION.

History

In April of 200, Ishikawa Rika was chosen to join Morning Musume as part of the fourth generation, alongside Yoshizawa Hitomi, Tsuji Nozomi, and Kago Ai. Soon after joining, both Ishikawa and Kago were added to the subgroup Tanpopo to replace Ishigura Aya, who had graduated from the group and Hello! Project the previous year. In 2001, Ishikawa was "loaned" to the group Country Musume to form Country Musume ni Ishikawa Rika (Morning Musume), even though she wasn't a Hokkaido native like group members were intended to be. Initially she was supposed to release only one single with Country Musume before another Morning Musume member was rotated into the group, but because sales went up with the addition of Ishikawa, she worked with them until 2003. In 2003, Morning Musume was split into two groups and Ishikawa became a part of Morning Musume Otomegumi, the more rock-influenced group of the two. Later, in 2004, she partnered with Michishige Sayumi to form EcoMoni, a group intended to promote ecological awareness at various events. Although EcoMoni is not a very active group, they have still made appearances as recently as 2008. In August of 2004, Ishikawa became the leader of a new group, v-u-den, with newcomers Miyoshi Erika and Okada Yui. After graduating from Morning Musume on May 7, 2005, she focused full-time v-u-den until their disbandment on June 29, 2008. Ishikawa has been featured in seven solo photobooks, and she also had her own radio show, Chanchaka Charmy. In September of 2006, Ishikawa starred in the big-screen movie Sukeban Deka Codename Asamiya Saki (a.k.a. Yo-yo Girl Cop), opposite fellow Hello! Project member Matsuura Aya. She played the renegade villain, Special Detective Akiyama Reika. The remaining two v-u-den members, Miyoshi Erika and Okada Yui, also had parts in the movie. In 2007, Ishikawa was added to Ongaku Gatas, a group consisting of members from Gatas Brilhantes H.P., the Hello! Project futsal team. Rika 'ANGRY' in HANGRY & ANGRY (with Yoshizawa Hitomi).

Yoshizawa Hitomi joined Morning Musume in 2000 as part of the fourth generation, which also included Ishikawa Rika, Tsuji Nozomi and Kago Ai. Soon after, she replaced graduating member Ichii Sayaka in Petitmoni, also known commonly known as Pucchi Moni. When Hello! Project created a futsal team in 2003, Yoshizawa was made its captain, a position she still holds. Yoshizawa became the sub-leader of Morning Musume after Iida Kaori's graduation and became the group's leader just a few months later after Yaguchi Mari's sudden resignation. After one of the longest tenures in the group, Yoshizawa graduated from Morning Musume in May, 2007. That June, she became the leader of the newly formed group Ongaku Gatas, comprised entirely of members of Gatas Brilhantes H.P., Hello! Project's futsal team. In October of 2008, she and Ishikawa Rika teamed up to form HANGRY & ANGRY, a rock-influenced group promoting the clothing brand of the same name.

Biography

Tsuji is best known for being one of the troublemaking "twins" of Morning Musume, along with her friend Kago Ai. They both graduated from the group on 1 August 2004, and together they formed W (Double U).

When Kago was suspended in February 2006 for smoking while underage, W was put on indefinite hiatus. In the meantime, Tsuji continued to appear frequently on television as a "talent," and she performed as a soloist in several Hello! Project concert tours. In September 2006 she began hosting her own online-only show, Curious Nono, as part of Hello! Project on FLET'S.

W was officially disbanded in March 2007, after Kago was caught in scandal again and her contract was terminated. As such, Tsuji was finally scheduled to release new singles including a remake of "Koko ni Iruzee!", which was used as the OP for the anime Robby & Kerobby, and "Boom Boom Meccha Maccho!" as part of the all-new unit Gyaruru.

In early May 2007, it was announced that Tsuji had become engaged to actor Sugiura Taiyou, who plays the titular Ultraman on the series Ultraman Cosmos, and was already two months pregnant with his child. She immediately withdrew from all scheduled work in order to focus on her marriage and pregnancy. There were anonymous reports that the management of Up-Front Agency and other members of Hello! Project reacted negatively to the sudden news, but at the May 10th press conference to formally announce the engagement, the official position was that Tsuji was leaving on good terms and may return to the entertainment industry after she had her baby.

On 21 June 2007, four days after Tsuji's 20th birthday, she and Sugiura filed their marriage registration papers. They held their ceremony some time in July, but it was for family only and there was no reception. She changed her legal name to "Sugiura Nozomi," but she will continue to use "Tsuji Nozomi" as a stage name.

On 26 November 2007, Tsuji gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Noa (希空). Apart from a few paparazzi photos and mentions on her husbands blog, not much was seen from Tsuji again until the announcement that she would make an appearance at the Hello! Project Elder Club graduation concert. Then on January 30, 2009, she opened a new blog with Ameba, the same website that hosts Sugiura's blog.

History

At age 12, Kago won the 4th National Audtion of Morning Musume held by Up-Front Works Agency in 2000, which led to her admission into the extremely popular girl band as a 4th generation member. In the same year, she became a founding member of Minimoni. In 2004, she graduated from both the aforementioned groups and formed W with Tsuji Nozomi.

In 2006, the under-age Kago was caught smoking (which is illegal in Japan) by the media. As a result, she was immediately suspended for one year by Up-Front Works Agency. In 2007, toward the end of her suspension, she was caught once again smoking and was found to be romantically involved with a 37-year-old man. This resulted in her contract being terminated permanently. After a hiatus that lasted a year, she signed a contract with R&A Promotions Co. Ltd and resumed her career as an actress and a singer.

* Kago and Tsuji shared the world record for the largest hula hoop spun at 4.08 m (13 ft 4+1⁄2 in) in diameter. They set their record on January 1, 2004. The record appeared in the 2005 and 2006 editions of the Guinness Book of World Records and was the second time that she and Tsuji have held the record, having previously held the record between January 2003 and June 2003. Konno was selected from Love Audition 21 to join Morning Musume as a fifth generation member on August 26, 2001, along with Takahashi Ai, Ogawa Makoto, and Niigaki Risa. Although only three girls were expected to be chosen, Konno was the wildcard selection, despite having performed poorly in all areas of the audition. (Tsunku had called Konno "a failure".) She made her debut appearance on the single "Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band~," and first appeared on the fourth studio album, 4th Ikimasshoi!.

Later that year, Konno was the lead in the TV special Morning Musume tokuban: 13-nin-gakari no Kurisumasu. During this show she proclaimed that she was the "spare". The plot of the show was to prove to Konno that Morning Musume could work together as a 13 member unit and did in fact need and want her there.

She was unexpectedly thrust into a central position in the May 2002 musical, "Morning Town," receiving the lead role in the second half of the play.

In September 2002, the fifth generation were placed into the Morning Musume subgroups, and Konno was added to the Tanpopo roster along with Niigaki Risa. She participated in one single, "BE HAPPY Koi no Yajirobee."

Konno was placed in Morning Musume Sakura Gumi in January 2003 and released two singles as a part of the group before it went inactive.

Later that year in July, Konno was added to Country Musume along with Fujimoto Miki, going on to release three singles with the group.

Despite her weaker singing voice in comparison to the other members, Konno sang a solo version of "Papa ni Niteiru Kare" on the fanclub-only DVD release of Morning Musume Best Shot Vol. 3.

She was an original member of the futsal team Gatas Brilhantes H.P. when it was formed in September 2003, having the position of goalkeeper along with Tsuji Nozomi.

On April 28, 2006, Konno announced her graduation alongside Ogawa Makoto. She graduated from Morning Musume and Hello! Project on July 23, 2006, in order to take the high school graduation exam and enter a university.

On December 14, 2006, it was announced that Konno had been accepted to Keio University, Shonan Fujisawa campus (SFC). Keio University is considered the best private university in Japan.

On June 18th, 2007 it was announced that Konno would be returning to H!P to continue her futsal career with Gatas Brilhantes H.P. It was also announced that she would preform in the summer concert in Nagoya on July 17, 2007. Ogawa was selected from Love Audition 21 to join Morning Musume as a fifth generation member on August 26, 2001, along with Takahashi Ai, Konno Asami, and Niigaki Risa. She made her debut appearance on the single "Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band~," and first appeared on the fourth studio album, 4th Ikimasshoi!.

Prior to joining Morning Musume, Ogawa was enrolled at the entertainment school Apple Little Performers (ALP) in Niigata, where she was one of the top students. She has also been a model for magazines and campaigns, such as one for automobile safety for the elderly.

In September 2002, the fifth generation were placed into the Morning Musume subgroups, and Ogawa was added to the Petitmoni roster. However, unlike the other newly shuffled Tanpopo and Minimoni, the new line-up of Petitmoni never released a single. They had one original song, "WOW WOW WOW," but it was only released on the Petit Best 4 album and performed during concerts.

Ogawa was placed in Morning Musume Otome Gumi in January 2003 and released two singles as a part of the group before it went inactive.

On June 22, 2003, Ogawa sprained her hip during the Edokko Chuushingura musical mini-live at the Meijiza Theater in Tokyo. Consequently, she was sidelined to a wheelchair for several live performances during the release of "Shabondama" (for the HEY! HEY! HEY! MUSIC CHAMP appearance as a part of SALT5, she performed sitting on a stool).

She was an original member of the futsal team Gatas Brilhantes H.P. when it was formed in September 2003, but retired from the group in March 2004. In March 2006, she became a member of the kickball team Metro Rabbits H.P..

On April 28, 2006, alongside Konno Asami, Ogawa announced that she would graduate from Morning Musume in order to study English abroad. She graduated on August 27, 2006, after the final performance of Ribbon no Kishi: The Musical.

History

Fujimoto was originally part of the group of finalists in the fourth generation Morning Musume auditions that resulted in the induction of Ishikawa Rika, Yoshizawa Hitomi, Kago Ai, and Tsuji Nozomi. While not selected at that time, in early 2001 Fujimoto was contacted again and offered a chance to debut as a solo artist. After training for a little more than a year, she made her solo debut with her first single, "Aenai Nagai Nichiyoubi." According to her Morning Musume x Tsunku 2 interview, she worked as a receptionist at Hello! Project's agency, UP-FRONT WORKS, during her training period.

In 2002, Tsunku pooled Fujimoto along with two other Hello! Project soloists, Goto Maki (a former Morning Musume member) and Matsuura Aya, to form Gomattou. The group released one single.

After a successful performance on the Kouhaku Utagassen New Year's Eve music program, Tsunku made the surprise announcement in 2003 to add Fujimoto to Morning Musume as a part of the sixth generation, sidelining her solo career indefinitely. Fujimoto gradually became one of the main vocals of the singles. Later that same year, she was added to the Country Musume roster along with Konno Asami, going on to release three singles as a part of the group.

Fujimoto was added to the futsal team Gatas Brilhantes H.P. in February 2004.

When Yaguchi Mari abruptly resigned from the group in April 2005, Fujimoto became the subleader of Morning Musume, supporting Yoshizawa Hitomi as the new leader.

In June 2006, it was announced that Fujimoto would form a new unit called GAM along with Matsuura Aya. GAM released three singles over the coming months, and then their first album in May 2007. A concert tour began on May 26th, 2007.

On May 6th, 2007, Yoshizawa Hitomi graduated from Morning Musume and Fujimoto Miki became the new leader with Takahashi Ai taking her former place as subleader.

On May 25th, 2007, Fujimoto was revealed in Friday magazine to have been dating a boyfriend, Shouji Tomoharu, who is part of comedy duo Shinagawa Shouji. Fujimoto herself confirmed that the story is true in a radio interview within days of the story breaking. As a result, on June 1st, Fujimoto, following in the footsteps of Yaguchi Mari, quit Morning Musume.

History

Takahashi was selected from Love Audition 21 to join Morning Musume as a fifth generation member on August 26, 2001, along with Konno Asami, Ogawa Makoto, and Niigaki Risa. Tsunku credited her exceptional singing ability as one of the reasons for choosing her. She debuted on the single "Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band~," and she first appeared on the fourth studio album 4th Ikimasshoi!.

Early on, Takahashi's strong Fukui accent frequently drew comments from television interviewers and other Hello! Project members. She has gradually grown out of it since she moved to Tokyo and took up professional voice training, but she still occasionally slips into it when she is nervous or surprised. It was even the subject of her verse in the original "Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari."

In September 2002, when the fifth generation were placed into the Morning Musume subgroups, Takahashi was added to the Minimoni roster, and she first appeared in the subgroup's movie, Minimoni ja Movie: Okashi na Daibouken!. Takahashi filled the spot left open by the graduation of leader Yaguchi Mari, and she went on to release a total of seven singles and one full-length album, Minimoni Songs 2.

Takahashi was placed in Morning Musume Sakura Gumi in January 2003 and released two singles as a part of the group before it went inactive.

Although Takahashi had received a big push to the center since the release of "Do it! Now," it wasn't until "Roman ~MY DEAR BOY~" that Takahashi began to be prominently featured on songs. "The MANPOWER!!!," Morning Musume's first single of 2005, featured Takahashi as a co-lead vocal and it is a position she has retained on most singles released since then. She even went on to sing with Tsunku on his solo album, TAKE 1, covering a re-arranged version of his duet with Hamasaki Ayumi, "Love ~since 1999~."

In 2006, she became a member of the kickball team Metro Rabbits H.P.. When Kago Ai was suspended from activities due to her smoking scandal, Takahashi was named as the new team captain.

In Ribbon no Kishi: The Musical, Morning Musume's summer musical for 2006, Takahashi played the lead role of Sapphire.

In summer 2006, Takahashi released her first solo single "Yume Kara Samete" as an online-only audio purchase.

On January 2, 2007, Tsunku announced that Yoshizawa Hitomi will graduate from Morning Musume in May of 2007, thus on May 6th, Fujimoto Miki became the group's new leader, and Takahashi became Morning Musume's new subleader.

On June 1, 2007, UFA made a sudden announcement that Fujimoto Miki had "resigned" from Morning Musume following the footsteps of former leader Yaguchi Mari and Takahashi became the new leader.

Niigaki was selected from Love Audition 21 to join Morning Musume as a fifth generation member on August 26, 2001, along with Takahashi Ai, Konno Asami, and Ogawa Makoto. Prior to joining Morning Musume, Niigaki was a finalist out of 1,000 entrants in the "Kiss Girl Audition" to become the new Tomy image girl, held by TV Tokyo's "Oha Star" program. She appeared in a commercial with the other finalist, Hasegawa Ai, for Tomy Karaoke Machine Kiss-site, but ultimately lost out the Grand Prix prize to Hasegawa (ironically, Niigaki later starred in a commercial for the same company as a part of Morning Musume). Additionally, she did some work as a magazine model since spring 2000.

Kamei was selected from the Morning Musume LOVE Audition 2002 to join Morning Musume as part of the sixth generation, along with Michishige Sayumi and Tanaka Reina. She made her debut on the single Shabondama, was first featured on the Ai no Dai 6 Kan album, and made her first concert appearance at the Morning Musume Concert Tour 2003 Haru "Non Stop!" concert.

She was placed in Morning Musume Sakura Gumi in January 2003 and released two singles as a part of the group before it went inactive.

Initially, Kamei struggled the most out of the sixth generation to create a presence for herself. She got her big break playing the role of field reporter Elizabeth Kyamei on the HelloPro News segment on Hello! Morning, showing her comedic side and breaking her out of her shell.

She has since tackled a number of comedic roles, with notable favorites like her parody of Yon-sama (Korean actor Bae Yong Jun). She even got her own corner on the revised HelloPro Hour corner as salesman Eric Kamezou in "Eric Kamezou no Maido Ari." 

Kamei graduated from Morning Musume on December 15, 2010 due to health reasons.

Michishige was selected from the Morning Musume LOVE Audition 2002 to join Morning Musume as part of the sixth generation, along with Kamei Eri and Tanaka Reina. She made her debut on the single Shabondama, was first featured on the Ai no Dai 6 Kan album, and made her first concert appearance at the Morning Musume Concert Tour 2003 Haru "Non Stop!" concert.

While considered the weakest of her generation vocally, she tries to compensate with good looks and a narcissistic personality, openly referring to herself as the the cutest member of Morning Musume. She is sometimes considered the successor to Ishikawa Rika, given the role they have each played within the group.

In 2004, Michishige and Ishikawa together formed the ecological awareness unit EcoMoni, and every summer they appear at various environmental and cultural festivals. In 2005, they released a joint photobook titled "Angels."

She was a regular co-host, with Kamei Eri and Nakazawa Yuko, of the "Eric Kamezou no Maido Arii" segment of Hello! Morning. She was also the designated mentor of seventh generation member Kusumi Koharu.

Tanaka was selected from the Morning Musume LOVE Audition 2002 to join Morning Musume as part of the sixth generation, along with Fujimoto Miki, Kamei Eri and Michishige Sayumi. She made her debut on the single Shabondama, was first featured on the Ai no Dai 6 Kan album, and made her first concert appearance at the Morning Musume Concert Tour 2003 Haru "Non Stop!" concert.

Tanaka is one of the few members to be the lead on their debut single - she provided the main vocals for Morning Musume's 19th single, Shabondama. She was also featured in a solo version of Memory Seishun no Hikari on Best Shot Vol.4, but was not selected as the center for a song until Ambitious! Yashinteki de Ii Jan. She normally gets more lines than her fellow sixth generation members, Michishige Sayumi and Kamei Eri. 

Trivia

* The kanji characters for her name (田中麗奈) are the same as the ones for the Japanese actress Tanaka Rena. To avoid confusion, Tanaka adopted hiragana symbols (れいな) for her first name when she joined Morning Musume.
* She initially auditioned for Morning Musume during the Love Audition 21 auditions for the fifth generation members and was even featured on the MUSIX page.
* Tsunku said she was the closest to being a perfect Morning Musume member.

Kusumi was the only member chosen in the Morning Musume Audition 2005. She debuted on the single Iroppoi Jirettai, was first featured on the Rainbow 7 album, and her first Morning Musume concert was Morning Musume Concert Tour 2005 Natsu Aki "Baribari Kyoushitsu ~Koharuchan Irasshai!~".

She joined the Hello! Project kickbase team Metro Rabbits H.P. and she is best known as the voice actor for Tsukishima Kirari, the main character of on-going anime Kirarin Revolution, that started April 7, 2006. She made her solo debut with her single Koi Kana, the opening theme of Kirarin Revolution. Her singles under the name "Tsukishima Kirari starring Kusumi Koharu (Morning Musume)" are used as the openings and endings for the anime. 

In 2009 she graduated from Morning Musume.

Linlin was scouted when she was in the second grade by a Chinese TV station. She has since acted in dramas and MCed shows.

Through the recommendation of a friend of Tsunku, LinLin joined Hello! Project as a part of Hello! Project Eggs as the Mysterious ponytailed girl (according to fans). On March 15, 2007, she (along with JunJun) was officially announced to be joining the eighth generation of all girl J-pop group Morning Musume, as a "foreign student". After seeing her perform at concerts, Tsunku was impressed and believes that she and JunJun will be key for Morning Musume's planned expansion into Asia in 2007.

Three days later, on , she made her Japanese television debut on Hello! Morning. Within the same week, she moved to Tokyo, Japan. On August 8th 2008, Morning Musume collaborated with Takarazuka to perform their musical Cinderella the Musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein. LinLin took the role of a page and a princess.

In 2009, Tsunku announced on his blog that LinLin would become the leader of Shin Minimoni, containing S/mileage member Fukuda Kanon and Hello! Pro Kenshuusei members Takeuchi Akari and Miyamoto Karin.

JunJun, LinLin, Natsuyaki Miyabi and former Morning Musume member Kusumi Koharu will perform in Shanghai during June as a special 4-nin unit called Ex-Ceed.

On December 15, 2010 LinLin graduated from Morning Musume along with Kamei Eri and JunJun.

History
In 2006, Fukumura attended the “Kirarin ☆ Girl Contest 2006″ and made it to second place.

Joined Hello!Pro Egg in 2008. Her first appearance was in June of the same year at the 2008 Hello!Project Shinjin Kouen 6gatsu~Akasaka HOP!~.

In 2009, Mizuki replaced Maeda Yuuka as Amulet Heart in Shugo Chara Egg!. She hosted "Shugo Chara Party" with fellow SCE! members.

Was a backup dancer in the PVs for Mano Erina's singles "Haru no Arashi" and "Onegai Dakara...".

At the January 2, 2011 concert in Hello! Project 2011 WINTER ~Kangei Shinsen Matsuri~ Tsunku announced that Mizuki was joining Morning Musume 9th gen, much to her surprise as she had no clue of this decision till the on stage announcement.

She performed Morning Musume's "Tomo" and "Aozora ga Itsumademo Tsuzuku You na Mirai de Are!" with the rest of Hello!Project and her fellow 9th gen members during the A-setlist concert performances.

During B-setlist performances, she performed Ongaku Gatas' "Come Together!" and Morning Musume's "Chokkan 2 ~Nogashita Sakana wa Ookiizo!~".
